Day 30

Sorry about yesterday not much to report we went out skiing in the morning but Lorna hurt her back in the powder and we both decided that it would be best to pack it in. Shame but we had had enough so we had lunch and packed early ready for today. Which started extra early as our new neighbours who arrived last night kept us awake as they were crashing around unpacking and all taking showers and even after a loud “Excuse me shut the fuck up” from me didn’t work we decided to leave a bit earlier and cause bloody mayhem. So at 6:00am we woke up after about 3 hours sleep and got ready first thing. First was
to put the TV on at high volume and turn on the bathroom light, which causes a noisy fan to turn on. Then the rather loud water system had to be activated by turning the taps on and if that wasn’t enough I made sure I banged all the cases up the stairs against their door and walls as I packed the car. The final touch was leaving the TV on full volume and locking the door after we left. Anyway revenge is sweet and we were now on our way towards California via Nevada a bit earlier than expected but never the less a long journey of some 10 hours. We were determined to make it as most of it was boring desert and we wanted to get the West coast so we could take our time getting to Seattle for Christmas Eve. We
made it on time thanks to the extra hour California gave us and checked into a Marriott hotel on the outskirts of Sacramento. This was determined by the only traffic jam we hit in 10 hours. SatNav suggested a hotel half a mile away and we took the advice and checked in. It was great, nice and quiet and on the main route west so tomorrow morning when we leave we will be on the road we want to start on. So not a great day for sightseeing but a very worthwhile day as far as keeping on schedule.
